Ferry Service Boosted From New Jersey To Lower Manhattan
MARCH 14TH, 2002
New York Waterways is increasing ferry service between Lower Manhattan and New Jersey.
The city and the Port Authority arranged for the company to add new routes, buy new boats and increase the frequency of its ferry service.
The new move is an effort to make up for the PATH service cut when the World Trade Center was destroyed. The goal is to give businesses extra incentive to stay in Lower Manhattan.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg, along with Governor Pataki and New Jersey Governor Jim McGreevy, is set to officially announce the plan Thursday.
